UPDATED FEBRUARY 25,2010: Liberty Hill Water Supply customers may now go back to the One Day a week watering as we had in the past. January 27, 2009: Please note that there was a computer error in the bills printed this month. The correct due date is 2/10/10, NOT 1/10/11 as indicated on the bills. July 8, 2009 NOTICE: CHANGE TO WATER DISINFECTANT On July 13, 2009, the Liberty Hill Water Supply Corp. will be changing the disinfectant that we use from Chlorine to Chloramines. This change is intended to benefit our customers by reducing the levels of disinfection byproducts (DBP) in the system, while still providing protection from waterborne disease. However, the change to Chloramines can cause problems to persons dependent on dialysis machines. A condition known as hemolytic anemia can occur if the disinfectant is not completely removed from the water that is used for the dialysate. Consequently, the pretreatment scheme used for the dialysis units must include some means, such as a charcoal filter, for removing the Chloramines prior to this date. Medical facilities should also determine if additional precautions are required for other medical equipment. In addition, chloraminated water may be toxic to fish. If you have a fish tank, please make sure that the chemicals or filters that you are using are designed for use in water that has been treated with Chloramines. You may also need to change the type of filter that you use for the fish tank. LIBERTY HILL WSC IS NOT CHANGING OUR ENTIRE METHOD OF DISINFECTANT AT THIS TIME. WE ARE ONLY ISOLATING A PORTION OF OUR SYSTEM TO BE ABLE TO RECEIVE WATER FROM CHISHOLM TRAIL SUD, WHICH USES CHLORAMINES FOR DISINFECTANTS. WE ARE OBTAINING WATER FROM CHISHOLM TRAIL BECAUSE OUR WATER SUPPLY WHICH COMES FROM WELLS IS AT A CRITICALLY LOW STAGE.
